CORNUS kousa and hybrids with CORNUS capitata

Like all Dogwood forms these Asian selections are extremely showy medium sized bushy trees that flower with and after the main spring flush of other flowers in the garden . They produce copious amounts of simple four petal bracts and continue to dazzle well into the warmer months , after most other plants have fizzled out . Stunning autumn colours are an added bonus on the deciduous forms along with interesting bark markings on older specimens . Flowers range from pure white to yellow and pinkish-red and as the flower bracts age they become tinted with pink to crimson before falling . The fruits that are set are usually known as strawberries and are bird favourites . Easy to grow and very hardy if provided with average moist but well drained soil .
